General Summary:

The Quality Control Analyst will conduct reviews of all types of Retail loan products, from an origination, servicing & default servicing standpoint.  These reviews will be performed in accordance with the bank’s Quality Assurance & Control program and accepted agency Quality Control standards.  Responsible for ensuring that loans are originated and serviced in a manner which ensures investment quality, processing and underwriting according to BBVA Compass Bank policy as well as secondary market, investor guidelines and compliance with all applicable federal and state laws / regulations. 


Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform risk analysis and make decision regarding deficiencies identified during the review process.
  • Review and analyze applications, credit reports, appraisal, income and asset documents to determine accuracy and completeness per guideline requirements.
  • Perform a data integrity review for loans underwritten within DU or other automated underwriting systems.
  • Perform transactional reviews of servicing and/or default servicing processes for adherence to bank policy, procedure as well as government regulation
  • Analyze data to detect deficient controls, identify transaction components that indicate a potential for fraud (or material misrepresentation) and perform sufficient investigative work to confirm or disprove issues that are identified.



Meet credit history and criminal background requirements associated with Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry registration process, to include FBI fingerprint criminal history and review of credit report.

  • High school diploma required; some college preferred.
  • Background in various types of retail lending with experience in loan processing, closing, underwriting, regulatory compliance, forensic underwriting, mortgage loan repurchases or quality control audit.
  • In-depth knowledge of secondary market and investor underwriting and quality control guidelines (FNMA, FHLMC, FHA & VA).
  • Thorough understanding of loan servicing and or default servicing processes and workflows as well as associated regulation.
  • Thorough understanding of regulatory and compliance issues affecting all aspects of the lending process.
  • Detail oriented with excellent analytical, problem solving and decision making skills.
  • Superior communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to summarize and present complex information and issues succinctly with the appropriate level of detail.
  • In depth knowledge and understanding of transaction components that indicate a potential for fraud or material misrepresentation.
  • Ability to work as a team player and assist others.
  • Ability to prioritize work and be flexible on current urgencies.
  • Working knowledge of residential mortgage lending regulations and requirements.
  • Maintain a sound knowledge of current secondary market and investor guidelines and risk assessment tools used to decision mortgage loans.
  • Maintain a sound knowledge of secondary market activity, practices, and business/industry practices as they impact underwriting quality and origination activity.
  • Years of experience: Grade 16 - 4 to 5 years; Grade 18 - 5 years or more.
