The primary duties and responsibilities of the Education Specialists include but are not limited to:

  • Development of training plans to educate newly hired employees and existing employees on policies, procedures, systems and processes necessary for fulfillment of tasks required for their corresponding roles with the bank.
  • Facilitate and moderate educational programs including scheduling training sessions, maintaining tests or tasks assignments and appropriate records.
  • Promote the organization’s philosophy and values; ensure quality in all areas; and encourage teamwork by coaching and providing support in the department and throughout the organization.
  • Develop collaborative relationships with business line management, subject matter experts and other learning staff to identify learning opportunities in efforts to close knowledge or performance gaps; gather source content for learning curriculum.
  • Establish performance objectives, learning outcomes and assessment tools, utilizing established instructional theories and design principles to design and develop blended, classroom-based instruction, paper-based training support and web-based training programs.
  • Produce, review and gain approval of curriculum/training design and training content; analyze the effectiveness of training interventions through associate job performance and post-course delivery assessments by creating assessments for reinforcement, including situational and scenario-based questions.
  • Implement new or purchased employee training and development programs, evaluate programs continually and recommend possible programs and training enhancements to management.
  • Analyze training and development needs, develop programs according to customer or the needs of BBVA Compass; modify purchased materials to coincide with training program intent; design and produce any related training and communication materials.
  • Consult and train with training firms and educational institutions to ensure useful methods for training and development activity.
  • Maintain current knowledge of updated company products/services/systems, including E3, Mortgage Cadence, Borrower Center, APPRO, Alnova; assess management needs and new training procedures to improve training methods and techniques.
  • Participate in technical writing activity to promote effective procedure management or participate in non-enumerated project work, as needed.
  • Participate in the development and delivery of communications to departments or divisions.
  • Develop and support employee engagement activities within the division.



Required Qualifications

  1. A Bachelor’s Degree in business, education, communications or related field of study is required or the equivalent in documented training experience at a professional level.
  2. Must have at least one year of training experience and one year of experience in the mortgage industry.
  3. Must have advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Access, PowerPoint and Excel.
  4. Capable of effectively communicating information in a professional and confidential manner.
  5. Self-motivated, able to deliver results through effective time-management and organizational skills.
  6. Collaborative, able to build trust and foster innovation with team members and business partners.
